Living Your Dreams

When you were a kid, how did you imagine your life as an adult? Did you want to be a doctor, or a teacher, a firefighter, or maybe even superman/wonder woman? As children, we had a vivid imagination and we believed that the world was our oyster.Dreams

As we got older, for various reasons, we realized that our dreams as children were either unrealistic or simply not something that actually interested us, once our minds and personalities developed. Eventually, with new knowledge and experiences, many of us developed new dreams, new ideas of the life we wanted to lead.

What has happened to that better informed dream? Are you living it? Or have the pressures of adulthood taken you off the path to living your dreams?

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined. –Henry David Thoreau

Thoreau’s quote is one that I wanted to share with you all as a reminder of the importance of two things:

  1. Keep working toward your goals

As we get older, various things stand in the way of accomplishing the goals we have for ourselves and attaining the life we once imagined. Jobs, families, money, stress, and so many other things can act as obstacles down the path toward reaching our goals and living our dreams.

No matter what your current situation, you can ALWAYS be doing SOMETHING to work toward your goals. Even if it is something small, slow progress is still progress and accomplishing small goals allows you to whittle away at the larger goal, each day, getting that much closer to your dream. (I’m currently writing my first book speaking on this very topic :).. I’m vurrry excite! *Borat voice*)

  1. Do it confidently

It is very easy to experience self-doubt and fear. Everyone does at one time or another. The point I want you to remember is that these feelings are normal and okay to feel, but they should not hinder your actions or prevent you from doing what it is that you want to do.

Believe in yourself, believe in your abilities. Remember that anyone who has had any measure of success has had to be his or her own biggest cheerleader. There will be naysayers, and sometimes those naysayers may even include yourself, but you must dust your shoulders off and remember what it is that you want and why you want it. Be fierce in attaining your goals. Go courageously down the path that leads to the life you desire.

You deserve it!
